Nancy Gordon
Nancy Gordon commenced as CEO of the National Foundation for Australia-China Relations in May 2026. She is a senior career officer with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) and most recently served as Commissioner-General for Australia at the World Expo in Osaka (2025).
Nancy has also served overseas as Australia’s first Consul-General in Chengdu and earlier in roles in Australia’s missions in Beijing, Shanghai and Tokyo, including as Counsellor (Public Diplomacy) in Tokyo.
In Canberra Nancy served as Assistant Secretary of the Northeast Asia Branch and the China Economic and Engagement Branch, where she was responsible for advancing Australia’s strategic and economic interests across the region. She also served as Acting Assistant Secretary in the Parliamentary and Media Branch.
Nancy holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Asian Studies and a Masters of Applied Japanese for Business from the University of Sydney and a Masters in Foreign Affairs and Trade from Monash University. She spent time studying at Waseda University and speaks Mandarin and Japanese.
