The National Foundation for Australia–China Relations welcomes Nancy Gordon as its new Chief Executive Officer and thanks outgoing CEO Gary Cowan for his outstanding leadership and contribution to the organisation.
Nancy Gordon is a senior career officer with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT), bringing extensive experience in diplomacy, international policy and trade across the Indo-Pacific. She joins the Foundation from her role as Commissioner General for Australia at the World Expo in Osaka (2025).
Nancy has also served overseas as Australia’s first Consul-General in Chengdu and earlier in roles in Australia’s missions in Beijing, Shanghai and Tokyo, including as Counsellor (Public Diplomacy) in Tokyo.
In Canberra Nancy served as Assistant Secretary of the Northeast Asia Branch and the China Economic and Engagement Branch, where she was responsible for advancing Australia’s strategic and economic interests across the region. She also served as Acting Assistant Secretary in the Parliamentary and Media Branch.
